PicoWeather is a weather monitoring utility that sits in the system tray and tells you the weather condition and temperature of your current location. It obtains the weather information from Yahoo.

Slide Show Movie Maker creates an AVI video from a series of BMP or JPEG pictures. It supports fade-in and fade-out effects, text overlays and background music (WAV only).

HIRC is a small IRC client that supports CTCP, DCC, scripts etc.

Get Color Sf is a color picker that enables you to capture any color displayed on the screen and use it in your programming or design work. It features a magnification tool with a 1-20x zoom level for more precision. It can output the captured color in a variety of formats, including RGB and HTML.

EasyThumb is a small program for batch creation of thumbnails and conversion of image formats. It supports a large number of image formats, including JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, PSP, TGA etc. It is also capable of producing a HTML contact sheet that displays all the image thumbnails.

Baby FTP Server is a basic FTP server that allows only anonymous access. It supports most RFC959 FTP commands, as well as PASV and non-PASV mode. You can configure the home directory and set permissions for download/upload/rename/delete/create directory.

Space gives you an overview of the free disk space on selected partitions. It supports network drives and customizable appearance.

DirectShow Filter Manager helps list, sort, find, add or remove DirectShow filters.

Safarp displays the list of installed programs and allows you to repair/uninstall them. You can also remove orphaned/obsolete entries, or export the program list to a variety of report formats.

Two reasons why you should use Safarp instead of the default applet: it loads much faster (even when you have tons of installed application like I do), and it allows you to quickly located installed application by typing the first letter of its name (a major gripe I have with the default applet due to its usage of a non-standard listview control).

Little Install Builder creates small installer packages after a wizard has guided you through filling in all the necessary information. Although you may want to include an installer for less experienced users, always provide a portable ZIP package for download!

FreeCrypt allows you to encrypt any file with a password, and recover that file by decrypting with the same password.

Icon Sucker is a utility that allows you to extract, or "suck," icons out of the files on your hard drive. Many different file types on your computer contain one or even many icons that you can use. Icon Sucker makes it easy to open these files and "suck" the icons out of them.

AVI Creator creates AVI files for inclusion as resources into Win32 programs. You can add either BMP or ICO files to the final AVI files as well as modify its scale and rate settings.

TMPGEnc converts AVI files to MPEG1, the format which is used in VCDs. It is probably one of the highest quality MPEG1 encoders around, and allows you to fine tune many encoding parameters, including bitrate, quantization matrix, GOP structure etc.



Note: TMPGEnc can also encode to MPEG2, but that is payware with a 30 day trial. It also displays in the splash screen on startup how many days you have left to test the MPEG2 functionality, but if you are not interested, you can always tick the checkbox "Don't show this screen on startup". MPEG1 encoding/decoding remains free after the trial period.



Due to licensing and patent issues, I don't think any freeware can legally offer MPEG encoding features without charge, unless the freeware author is a millionaire and pay for all the royalty charges himself!

SequoiaView uses a visualization technique called "cushion treemaps" to provide you with a single picture of the entire contents of your hard drive. You can use it to locate those large files that you haven't accessed in one year, or to quickly locate the largest picture files on your drive.

Private Disk Light creates one or more virtual encrypted drive for you to store documents or applications away from prying eyes. Each virtual drive is mapped to an actual file on your physical disk. Data written to it are automatically encrypted using AES with a master password that you provide. Great for keeping data on portable storage devices secure so that sensitive information is not compromised if the device is misplaced or lost.

CDmage is a utility that performs various tasks on standard disc formats, including ISO, BIN, BWI, and NRG. It also allows you to explore the filesystem within the CD image, repair corrupted sectors, extract files, extract and convert audio tracks, and more.

Seek & Dread Online is a top-down multiplayer shooter similar to Counter Strike, but in a 2D format. You control a terrorist or a police man. In the deathmatch mode you have no friends, all that counts is that you survive. Collect firearms and grenades that appear randomly on the playfield and do not forget to refresh your health while you are in the action of heavy gunfights. In the team mode you can choose if you want to join the terrorists or the police forces. Then you can buy your equipment and start to conquer the enemy's base with your team. zphoto is a photo album generator that creates Flash-based thumbnails of your images. When you hover the mouse over any of the thumbnails, the thumbnail will expand to reveal a larger version of the photo. The generated album can be uploaded to a web server and easily shared with friends and family.
